As a result of Democratic wins in state legislative races and gubernatorial races, the National Popular Vote Plan theoretically can gain enough states in 2027 to take effect. See this story.

The story does not assume New Hampshire will pass the Compact, because New Hampshire’s Republican Governor Kelly Ayotte was re-elected. However, Democrats won large majorities in both houses of the legislature. See this story.
